Scotland’s global success on period equity recognised on Menstrual Health Day

Scottish Labour MSP Monica Lennon has been speaking about the success of her Period Products Bill as part of an international panel of speakers organised by ‘Girl Up Scotland’ and Sanitree.

The inaugural roundtable of Legislative Champions for Period Dignity ‘Global Legislative Champions’ is chaired by Jennifer Weiss-Wolf, the author of ‘Periods Gone Public’ and the panel of speakers includes Monica Lennon MSP, US Congresswoman Grace Meng and New York Assembly member Linda B. Rosenthal.

Scotland has led the world in passing legislation which provides free period products to all.

”I was delighted to be invited to be part of this international panel of speakers” said Monica, “I am so proud of the way that Scotland has led the way on tackling period poverty and creating period dignity”.

”There is more work to be done and although I am so proud that Scotland was the first country in the world to legislate for this I know it won’t be the last.

“I am looking forward to working with law makers in other countries to showcase the best practice that Scotland has taken forward.”
