Monica welcomed pupils from St Cuthbert’s Primary to The Scottish Parliament

Pupils from St. Cuthbert’s Primary School in Burnbank, Hamilton enjoyed a trip to Edinburgh recently. The Primary 7 students explored the Scottish Parliament building, learnt more about democracy and questioned one of their MSPs, Monica Lennon on Friday 11 October.

Monica Lennon Scottish Labour MSP for Central Scotland and a former local councillor for Hamilton North and East hosted a question and answer session about her work and was quizzed by enthusiastic young people on a wide range of topics.

Monica Lennon said:

“The Primary 7 pupils from St Cuthbert’s Primary School made a big impression on me and I enjoyed answering their questions and hearing what matters to them, nationally and locally.

It is always great to see young people taking an interest in politics and and I hope St. Cuthbert’s enjoyed their visit. The school should be very proud of their pupils as they get ready for secondary school next year. As a former pupil of St John Ogilvie High School, which most of the pupils will attend, I am excited to see confident and considerate learners coming through our education system.”

The Scottish Parliament is taking bookings for school visits through to April 2020, and local schools can contact Education Services at Holyrood to arrange a visit. Monica can be contacted directly to request a visit to a school.
